Selected Item

By the use of buttons in this section you may move survey items up or down in the list:

Move Up  Click this button to move the selected item one position up in the list.

Move Up x10  Click this button to move the selected item 10 positions up in the list.

Move Down  Click this button to move the selected item one position down in the list.

Move Down x10  Click this button to move the selected item 10 positions down in the list.

Add New Item

Add new items to your survey: questions, images, or comments:

Check if you want new items to be inserted before the item currently selected.
By default new items are appended below the selected item.

Question  Click this button to insert a new question into the survey.

    Add Question

Comment  Click this button to add a comment to the survey. Unlike questions, a comment is a simple block of text that may be used for information purposes: adding explanations, commenting parts or elements of the survey, etc. It is also convenient to use comments to introduce your survey to the audience (especially when used with a page break after it).

Image  Click this button to add an image to the survey. Images are frequently used for demonstrating purposes. Company logos are also appropriate to be used in questionnaires too.
JPG, GIF, and PNG file formats are supported; optimal file size is up to 100 kb.

Page Break  Click this button to insert a page break to divide your survey into separate pages (a survey occupies one page by default). If you divide your questionnaire in this way, the respondent is required to click on the Next button to proceed to the next page.
A break is inserted below the currently selected item (or above in case if selected so). A break cannot be inserted below the last item in the list.
Generally, breaks are needed to organize your survey the way you want. It may be appropriate to use breaks in case with large surveys to divide questions into groups. Moreover, it is required to use breaks if you use branching in your survey.

Survey

Customize the survey look and feel, apply numbering, preview and save when finished:

Choose a skin from the drop-down list to apply to the survey. A skin is a color palette your survey will be presented in.
There are a number of pre-defined skins for you to choose from. As you select an item from the drop-down list, a new browser window opens containing the preview of your survey with the skin selected.
    Samples:
    Standard
    Blue
    Citrus
    Green
    Micro1
    Micro2

Choose to apply automatic numbering to the survey items. This feature releases you from the manual commiting of numbers and takes care of re-numbering in case you add/delete items.
    Values:
    • No: No numbers are added. Use this option if you want to arrange your own numbering or do not need any numbering at all.
    • Yes: Normal numbering throughout the entire survey, despite the pages.
    • Page-by-page: Numbers are added page-by-page, starting from '1' at evey page. (If there is only one page in the survey, the effect is the same as with "Yes".)
    Samples:
    Survey with no numbering
Survey with one page and normal numbering
Survey with two pages and normal numbering through all pages
Survey with two pages and page-by-page numbering

Preview  Click this button to preview your survey from a respondent's viewpoint.
Note: Please take note that previewing does not allow branching and submission (e.g. you cannot respond to questions). If you need to test the survey in the real mode, click on the 'Save Survey' button and then 'View and Test' your survey from the 'My Surveys' page.

Save Survey  Click this button to save the survey and close the edit mode.
Note: As you finished editing you must click the 'Save Survey' button in order to update the survey, otherwise the changes will not take effect.

Cancel Changes  Click this button to cancel all changes you have made to the survey.

Survey Plan

This is where you draw up your questionnaire by dividing it into pages, applying branching, and adding items - questions, comments, images:

Edit Branching Rules  Click this button to apply branching to the page break. Branching is an advanced feature that allows the creation of conditioned questions with basic logic operators (e.g. "if the respondent gave the answer A1 to the question A and the answer B2 to the question B, the next question will be C, else the survey ends"). The use of branching enables to create complex questionnaires, sub-questionnaires, scenario surveys, etc.
Note: Keep in mind that branching rules apply not to a particular item but to the entire page of the questionnaire.

Select the radio button to set the item as selected to move, and new elements are to be inserted before or after this item.

Click on the item text to edit its properties.

Check to set the question as required to be answered by respondents. Such questions are marked by red asterisk. The rest of questions are considered optional and may be avoided.
    Sample:
    A survey with required questions

Check this to include the question in public report. If the survey results are made public (see Manage Survey) respondents and visitors may view them. In this case you may decide what particular questions to make visible in the public report. Statistics of such questions are shown to visitors, otherwise they are hidden (e.g. you need to hide respondents' personal information, etc.).
Note: Keep in mind that the 'hidden/public' status applies to common visitors that are not logged in. When you are logged under your account, all statistics, including hidden, become visible to you. Hence, if you wish to test this feature, you should first log out and set your browser to your survey as a common visitor.
    Sample:
    Hidden stats on particular questions

Delete: Click to delete the item. Use with caution. However, if you deleted an item accidentally, you may click 'Cancel Survey' to cancel all changes.
